PRINCIPAL DESIGNER SERVICES

Cowie Consulting Ltd. provides competent Principal Designer services in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015). We support clients in meeting their statutory duties by managing health and safety risk during the pre-construction phase of a project.


Our role is proactive, structured and compliance-led. We focus on eliminating, reducing and controlling foreseeable risks at design stage, before they reach site.

What We Do


CDM Duty Holder Support

We advise domestic and commercial clients on their legal responsibilities under CDM 2015 and formally undertake the role of Principal Designer where required.


Pre-Construction Phase Management

We plan, manage and monitor the pre-construction phase, ensuring designers comply with their duties to eliminate and reduce risk through design decisions.


Design Risk Coordination

We review architectural, structural and M&E designs to identify foreseeable construction, maintenance and operational risks. Hazards are addressed through coordinated design reviews and formal risk registers.


Pre-Construction Information (PCI)

We prepare structured Pre-Construction Information Packs tailored to the specific project, identifying site constraints, residual risks and management requirements.


Designer Coordination

We liaise with architects, engineers, specialist designers and contractors to ensure risk information is shared effectively and design interfaces are properly managed.



Health and Safety File

We compile, review and issue the Health and Safety File at project completion, ensuring it is suitable for future maintenance, alteration and demolition works.
